This is a very good film and pretty funny too. Although the subject matter may seem bizarre at first, it has a very authentic quality. The performances are excellent, especially George Clooney, who is first class and very believable in the context of a film of this nature.

Not the best or funniest comedy ever, but certainly above average and very entertaining.

I liked it a lot.

I don’t mind suspending belief if it’s in a good cause, you know, there’s actually some point to the film. With such a ludicrous plot line you would have thought that the director would have played it for laughs or gone down the satirical route. But no. A complete waste of time.

This is without a shadow of a doubt the most outrageous film I’ve ever seen. The plot is thin and none of it really makes any sense. A load of old hippy ideas are thrown into a specialist branch of the army to investigate the strength of the mind over body theory….

The sequence of events that follows is barely believable. I have to say it was a great visual film with some beautifully shot sequences. Some of the gags were laugh out loud funny. The long and the short of it is – it may get you thinking,it may make you laugh but you’ll definitely spend a long time talking about it afterwards. NB watching it drunk might enhance the experience.

“The Men Who Stare At Goats” is possibly the strangest film that I have seen this year. It is a sort of a spoof on the true story of a team of psychic “Remote Viewers” based within the US military ,who possessed the ability to see into peoples minds and view locations many thousands of miles away and even many centuries in the past by psychic means. They were able to identify the locations of enemy targets for the US military and implant thoughts into the minds of their enemies. The book “The Seventh Sense” by Lyn Buchanan details all of their astounding activities. This film possesses a stellar cast with Ewan McGregor playing a heartbroken young reporter who goes to the Middle East hoping to report on the Iraq War in the early Noughties. In Kuwait he meets a former psychic spy (George Clooney) who he subsequently accompanies into Iraq hoping for a good story. The pair end up getting kidnapped before reaching a Psi Ops base in which Clooney meets up with some of his old Remote Viewing buddies. The film is very quirky and not much happens plot wise. It was supposed to be some manner of comedy but I didn’t find it any more than mildly amusing. I found it to be rather bizarre and inconsequential to be honest . However it does bring into the mainstream knowledge of the activities of the real life Remote Viewers; a great true story that the masses don’t appear to know or want to know about.

I saw this film preview in Egypt recently. It was absolutely hilarious in every single scene of the trailer and George Clooney was hilarious too. I really cannot wait for this film to be released over here.
