Firstly, I have not tried this headset because I do not yet need to…

I have a Nokia bh-600 which I bought over 3 years ago. It was brilliant. I had had a number of headsets before but this was ideal. Good sound, good range of volume, did not pick up too much background noise or interferance and was comfortable for long periods; great battery life too. Then I lost it. Argh. I could not find the right nokia at the time and so I bought a £40 motorola that was “designed for outside”. Argh! situations where my nokia would have breezed it were impossible – outside, 70mph in the car (honest) and even conference calls in quiet rooms picked up every page flick. And then a year after I had lost it I dug up my old nokia in the garden. After a winter of torrential rain, heavy snow and being caked in muck, I cleaned it off, thoroughly dried it out and plugged it in. It works! whilst the ear band is showing its age, the unit itself works as well as always and the motorola now lives in the back of a drawer somewhere. I will buy another nokia, may be this one, but not until my current one finally dies.

I’ve been using one of these for a couple of days whilst my regular unit awaits a new ear hook.

Technically it’s not bad. It was easy to use and paired up without problems but it would have been better if it used the same micro-usb socket that most of my other similar sized gadgets use.

Incoming and outgoing sound quality were perfectly acceptable except in windy conditions.

Unfortunately though it’s just painfully uncomfortable to the extent that I cannot use it any more. The ear hook is not adjustable: it’s just a thin bit of moulded plastic with a bit of grippy elastomer at one end and is not adjustable nor mouldable to one’s own ear shape and soon starts to feel very uncomfortable. At this price, it should have been more than the cheap afterthought that it is. The earpiece fits just into the entrance of the ear canal courtesy of one of two supplied synthetic rubber adapters. One of them didn’t fit me, the other did but has left me with a really sore ear canal. Given that these adapters cost a fraction of a penny each to produce there should have been far more to choose from regardless of the price point.

My regular unit (Jabra BT135) is available brand new for far less than half the price and has none of these problems AND includes a car charger as well.

I’d give this two stars, but for the same or only slightly more money it’s possible to buy FAR better specified and designed units from the likes of Jabra and Plantronic. If it was half the price then two stars would be merited but I really cannot recommend this model.
